A grand red wine named after the Eurasian eagle-owls, the unobtrusive inhabitants of this small vineyard. Rich and elegant, this wine offers magnificent fruit flavors enhanced by distinct spice notes, all wrapped in well-integrated oak. The finish will become even more sublime after two or three years of aging.

Wine rated 15/20 (2017 vintage) (Very good wine)

Rated Estate (2020 Guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire lineup)

About the estate:

This small estate owns some very lovely vineyards in Condrieu, some of which—such as Poncin—are very close to Château Grillet. We were more impressed by the red Saint-Josephs than by the Condrieus in 2017.
