Domaine Mouton Père et Fils - Condrieu Corbery 2023
2* Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"An ultra-refined version of Viognier"
Named after its locality, the Corbery cuvée was aged in oval concrete vats for 11 months. This unusual but highly successful aging process proves its worth here, preserving the impeccable freshness of the wine's golden hue and the precision of its bouquet, with notes of lemon blossom, quince, and spices (fenugreek, star anise). Powerful, complex and very round, the palate then tightens under the effect of a fine saline liveliness that carries the honeyed and fruity flavors perceived on the nose. A rare elegance. About wine:
A superb double for the estate in 2023, which has two excellent Condrieus listed in the Guide. Named after its locality, the Corbery cuvée was aged in ovoid concrete vats for 11 months. This unusual but highly successful aging process proves its worth here, preserving the impeccable freshness of the wine's golden hue and the precision of its bouquet, with notes of lemon blossom, quince, and spices (fenugreek, star anise). Powerful, complex and very round, the palate then tightens under the effect of a subtle saline liveliness that carries the honeyed and fruity flavors perceived on the nose. A rare elegance.
About the estate:
Born into a long line of winemakers, Jean-Claude Mouton joined his father, André, in 1989 on the family estate. Since 2020, he has been supported by his son Bryan, and together they run this small 9-hectare estate, whose south-facing terraces are located in the heart of the village of Condrieu.
