Domaine Mouton Père et Fils - Côte-Rôtie Maison Rouge 2023
1*Étoile
Hachette
"The estate's signature wine"
"From 85 acres of steep slopes covered with schistose granite in a place called Maison Rouge, this 2023, barely out of its infancy, pleases with its juicy cherry and blackcurrant fruit, enhanced by smoky and bacon notes from 18 months of barrel aging. The palate is in tune: frank, fresh and well-structured, endowed with elegant tannins and a more than respectable length, with a subtle woodiness that is logically present but calibrated to the whole. A mature, balanced and very drinkable Côte-Rôtie, reflecting meticulous work in the vineyard and the cellar in a turbulent vintage. (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Rich and powerful with an impressive structure and silky tannins despite the tight grain. The substance is concentrated and the balance is fabulous. Remarkably long finish.

About the estate:
Born into a long line of winemakers, Jean-Claude Mouton joined his father, André, in 1989 on the family estate. Since 2020, he has been supported by his son Bryan, and together they run this small 9-hectare estate, whose south-facing terraces are located in the heart of the village of Condrieu.
