Domaine Mouton Père et Fils - Condrieu Corbery 2023
2* Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"An exceptionally refined version of Viognier"
"Named after its local area, the Corbery cuvée was aged in an egg-shaped concrete tank for 11 months. This is an uncommon but highly successful aging method that proves its worth here, preserving the wine’s impeccable freshness—with its golden shimmer—and the precision of its bouquet, featuring lemon blossom, quince, and spices (fenugreek, star anise). Powerful, complex, and very round, the palate then tightens under the influence of a subtle, briny liveliness that carries the honeyed and fruity flavors perceived on the nose far into the finish. A rare elegance.” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

About the wine:
A superb double victory for the estate in 2023, with two excellent Condrieu wines making the Guide’s list. Named after its lieu-dit, the Corbery cuvée was aged in an ovoid concrete tank for 11 months. This uncommon but highly successful aging method proves its worth here, preserving the wine’s impeccable freshness—with its golden shimmer—and the precision of its bouquet, featuring lemon blossom, quince, and spices (fenugreek, star anise). Powerful, complex, and very round, the palate then tightens under the influence of a subtle, briny liveliness that carries the honeyed and fruity flavors perceived on the nose far into the finish. A rare elegance.
About the estate:
Coming from a long line of winemakers, Jean-Claude Mouton joined his father, André, at the family estate in 1989. Since 2020, he has been assisted by his son Bryan, and together they manage this small 9-hectare estate, whose south-facing terraces are located in the heart of the village of Condrieu.
