"A superb evocation of the appellation"
The elegance of its narcissus and stone fruit aromas and the deliciousness of its hint of nougatine make this very delicate nose utterly seductive. After an initial burst of acidity, the roundness of the fruit takes over in a powerful, concentrated, almost creamy palate, stretching into a long, smooth finish with flavors of roasted apricot and roasted hazelnut. A superb expression of the appellation that will offer wonderful sensations at the table with sweetbreads or crayfish puff pastry for a long time to come. (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
A new wind is blowing at Vidal-Fleury. Antoine Dupré has replaced Guy Sarton du Jonchay at the helm of the oldest wine merchant in the northern Rhône (founded in 1781), now owned by the Guigal family but managed independently. New commercial ambitions are emerging, along with a gradual shift in style in the cellar, which is beginning to show in the range on offer. Watch this space.

About the estate:
The oldest wine merchant in the Rhône region, founded in 1781 from its vineyard in Côte-Rôtie and renowned from very early on – Thomas Jefferson held a memorable banquet there in 1787. Owned by the Guigal family since 1986, it has a monumental cellar, whose architecture is inspired by the Egyptian site of Saqqara.

About the estate:
Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury is the oldest winery in the Rhône Valley still in operation. It was bought by the Guigal family in the early 1980s and boasts modern, high-performance facilities, as well as autonomy in its management and winemaking. The range is extensive and covers most of the major appellations of the Rhône Valley. The wines are now reliable, in a rather classic style.

About wine:
The palate is floury with a hint of toasted nuts beneath the apricot fruit. The fruit is ripe and the finish is rich, dense, and opulent—a real showstopper!

About wine:
Aged in 30% new Burgundy barrels and subjected to malolactic fermentation, the 2021 Condrieu has a fresher, more vibrant style with aromas and flavors of citrus, mandarin orange, and honeyed flowers. It is medium-bodied and concentrated, with an elegant, concentrated palate and an excellent finish.
