"How clever!"
“The 2022 Côte-Rôtie Les Rochins was aged for 20 months in 228-liter French oak barrels, 30% of which were new. Intense notes of licorice, black plum, clove, graphite, and a hint of espresso take center stage. Medium-bodied to full-bodied and round, the 2022 delights the palate with an elegant concentration of flavors and finishes with a vibrant freshness on the fruity finish. Give it another two years in the bottle.” (Vinous 2024) • Please note: limited quantities available.

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
This estate has some lovely vineyards in the Côte Blonde area, including one on the Goutay, near their home, but their best wine comes from Les Rochains, on the schist soils near La Landonne. The production still lacks consistency, but the style is authentic, bearing the hallmark of whole-cluster fermentation. The 2017 vintage showed great character this year.

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2025 guide) 93/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
The 2022 Côte-Rôtie Les Rochins, fermented with 30% whole clusters, has a slightly reserved profile, revealing aromas of violets, flowers, and dark berries structured by spicy notes as it opens up. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, enveloping and charming even in its youth, it is beautifully balanced, with a refined and linear mid-palate that gives way to a long, ethereal, and vibrant finish. Although it is not the most expressive Côte-Rôtie, this surprising and silky wine—aged for 20 months in barrels, 30% of which are new—displays impressive finesse.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 95/100
Rated estate (2024 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
The Garon wines beautifully highlight the diversity of the Côte-Rôtie terroirs. We are captivated by the estate’s winemaking style, which stands out for its refined texture. The fruit is well-defined, and the aging profiles gain depth depending on the terroir and the estate’s skill in managing oak. Among the various cuvées, La Sybarine reflects the character of the granitic soils; Les Triotes, located on the Côte Blonde next to Lancement, is made from schist; and Les Rochins is produced on the brown schist of the Côte Brune.
