"The personality of Grenache revealed, dense black fruit and beautiful depth."

"This is a beautiful introduction to Châteauneuf Grenache, even if it must bear the humble Côtes du Rhône appellation. Wonderful aromas of summer flowers and ripe red fruit skillfully fill the full-bodied palate. The tannins are remarkably fine for this appellation and, along with notes of licorice and sandalwood, give the lingering finish a lot of personality. (James Suckling 2024)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About wine:

A classic style defined by well-ripened grapes, dominated by Grenache (notes of red stone fruits, spices, maquis, citrus peel). On the palate, it displays its richness, but the concrete aging and graphite notes channel this natural generosity. The tannic structure gives the wine structure without any harshness.

About the estate:

Despite its name, this estate is very fragmented and encompasses almost every type of soil found in the appellation. Produced using traditional methods, Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wines are often reserved in their youth. They are designed to reveal their full potential over time. For several vintages now, Thierry Sabon has brought finesse and refinement to the entire range, from the simple Côtes-du-Rhône to the grand cuvée of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. We have been following the progress of this estate for many years. At ten years old, the wines express themselves with grace. At twenty years old, they reach a new milestone and reveal their true potential: we can then fully appreciate their aromas of truffle and undergrowth, as well as fruit that seems to have been infused by time. The white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is lively and distinguished. In good vintages, the estate offers the Cuvée du Papet, a dense and deep wine, made for aging and often reaching exceptional levels. All the wines show great aging potential.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 06/07/2024

A young CDR that does not deny its origins, as the old vines are in full swing in a warm vintage. This results in a wine that is both massive and fleshy, with a pronounced tannic structure and a heady character, extremely intense with black cherry fruit, spices, and black pepper rather than freshness. Slightly spicy licorice finish. Lovers of southern wines with strong personalities will be delighted! Pair with marinated Camargue bull steaks on the grill and a Provençal ratatouille. Rating = 3.7.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 05/17/2024

Medium-deep cherry red color. On the nose, sultry, ripe, and sun-drenched aromas. Red fruit, wild strawberries, chocolate, garrigue, herbs, licorice. Expressive and refined at the same time. On the palate, the same finesse and elegance, ripe red fruit, spiciness, fullness and substance, yet light-footed. Also tingling on the tongue. Beautiful freshness that provides balance. A classic Grenache winner. What a beautiful wine, with hints of Rayas in the distance! Score: 16.5+/20
