“The true character of Grenache revealed: dense dark fruit and beautiful depth”
“Here is a lovely introduction to Châteauneuf Grenache, even if it bears the humble Côtes du Rhône appellation. Wonderful aromas of summer flowers and ripe red fruits skillfully fill the full-bodied palate. The tannins are remarkably fine for this appellation, and—along with notes of licorice and sandalwood—they lend a great deal of character to the lingering finish. ” (James Suckling 2024)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100
Rated estate (2027 guide): 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience.)
About the wine:
A classic profile defined by well-ripened grapes, with Grenache as the dominant variety (notes of stone fruits, spices, Mediterranean scrub, and citrus peel). On the palate, it displays its richness, but aging in concrete tanks and notes of graphite temper this natural generosity. The tannic structure gives the wine body without any perceived harshness.
About the estate:
Despite its name, this highly fragmented estate encompasses nearly every type of soil found within the appellation. Produced using traditional methods, Châteauneuf-du-Pape reds are crafted to reveal their character over time: at ten years, they express themselves with grace; at twenty years, they reach their true potential—truffle, forest floor, and fruit matured by time. The white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, spirited and distinguished, also deserves attention. When the vintage permits, La Cuvée du Papet—dense and deep—often reaches exceptional heights.

A young CDR that stays true to its roots, as the old vines are in full swing for this warm vintage. The result is a wine that is both robust and full-bodied, with a pronounced tannic structure and an intoxicating character—extremely intense with notes of kirsch-like black fruit, spices, and black pepper rather than freshness. A slightly spicy, licorice-tinged finish. Lovers of full-bodied southern wines with strong personalities will be delighted! Pair with grilled, marinated Camargue bull steaks and a Provençal ratatouille. Rating = 3.7.

Medium-deep cherry-red color. On the nose, sultry, ripe, and sun-kissed aromas. Red fruit, wild strawberries, chocolate, garrigue, herbs, licorice. Expressive and refined at the same time. On the palate, the same finesse and elegance: ripe red fruit, spiciness, body, and substance, yet light on the palate. Also a bit of a tingle on the tongue. Lovely freshness that provides balance. A classic Grenache standout. What a beautiful wine—with a hint of “Rayas” in the background! Score: 16.5+/20
