Domaine Duseigneur - Odyssey 2019

Domaine Duseigneur - Odyssée 2019

spicy
ripe fruit
grilled meat

A wonderful introduction to the estate’s world, guided by biodynamic farming practices. This Côtes du Rhône Villages comes from a plot with predominantly sandy-clay soil. A blend of Grenache and Syrah that develops a sparkling nose of red fruits, with spicy notes and a distinct Mediterranean character on the palate. Medium-bodied with a dense texture, it is already delicious, supported by a pleasant freshness!

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

The estate, covering some 30 hectares, is divided into two parts, located in the municipalities of Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres and Lirac. On the right bank of the Rhône, the terroir consists of rounded pebbles on soils that are initially clay-limestone and then sandy. Since the estate’s founding, the Duseigneur family has always farmed its land naturally, respecting the nature of the soils as much as possible, and now practices biodynamics. The various cuvées all have a serious structure and are often quite closed in their youth. The estate also produces a second line under the domaine-de-mayran brand. We note that recent vintages have gained in finesse and texture, undoubtedly the result of their recent collaboration with winemaker Philippe Cambie.
