Mas de Libian - Côtes du Rhône Khayyâm 2021
Sélectionné
Bettane & Desseauve
“Wine is a beauty mark on the cheek of intelligence” (Omar Khayyâm, 11th-century Persian poet, mathematician, and Muslim). A tribute to this wine lover, the Khayyâm cuvée is a poet that needs a little time to unfold and reveal the mysteries it holds. Oriental, spicy, and warm, it is highly recommended to serve it in the winter, when it will warm up your table.

Open
Take your time; you can let it age in the cellar for a few years, or—for those in a hurry—don’t rush it: Khayyâm is a poet; he needs a little time to unfold (decanting it 1 to 2 hours before the meal is an excellent way to do this). Let time flow slowly, like wine; life is sweet.
Apogee
It’s the most exotic, the spiciest, and the warmest—so we highly recommend inviting it to your table this winter; it’ll warm it right up.

About the estate:
The estate’s success demonstrates the potential of this region in southern Ardèche, which has long been underappreciated but is now gaining recognition for its reputation and quality. On the rounded pebble soils at the confluence of the Rhône and Ardèche rivers, the vineyards of Mas de Libian—cultivated using biodynamic methods—produce wines that surprise with their pure fruit, authenticity, and concentration, while retaining their freshness.

What a disappointment. It’s a sparkling wine. Undrinkable. It’ll end up down the drain. There were five of us at our tasting party, and this is the unanimous opinion. How can anyone produce a wine like this and still have such a reputation? Unbelievable.
