Domaine de Marcoux - Côtes du Rhône 2019
89/100
RVF
"More than just a Côtes du Rhône!"
"A palette of black berries and spices, more typical of Grenache with its stone fruit character. The nose is southern in style but without excess. The palate is composed, rather infused for a wine with this richness, but overall it is well-balanced. " (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2022 - RVF). Much closer in spirit to a Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this is a pure pleasure cuvée at an affordable price!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
A historic reference in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this iconic estate was long run by the Armenier sisters, who raised it to the top of the appellation. Today, Vincent Estevin, Sophie's son, continues the family tradition with the same high standards. Biodynamics remains at the heart of the approach, with meticulous care taken with each plot of the vineyard. The range is based around four cuvées: a fresh Côtes-du-Rhône, a full-bodied and structured white, and two reds with strong personalities. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée impresses with its restrained power and masterful balance, while the Tradition cuvée remains the flagship of this model estate, which shines through the precision, depth, and energy of its great terroir wines.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 89/100
Rated estate (2026 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About wine:
A palette of black berries and spices, more typical of Grenache with its stone fruit character. The nose is southern in style but without excess. The palate is composed, rather infused for a wine with this richness, but overall it is correct.
About the estate:
Led by Sophie Armenier and Vincent Estevenin, the Marcoux estate has established itself at the top of the appellation. The wines possess a rare naturalness and depth, with energy and power on the palate that are achieved without any artificial aging techniques. These great classic wines, marked by the influence of ripe Grenache grapes, age beautifully. Despite their high maturity, all the vintages have found their balance and appear less warm than in the past, gaining in minerality and salinity.
