“An extraordinary Crozes-Hermitage!”

"A well-balanced Crozes-Hermitage, succulent, full-bodied, and textured, with notes of cherries, plums, violets, and fresh black pepper. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Its refined, silky texture, with floral and violet notes, lends it great elegance on the palate. It is well-structured and lively, with a touch of pepper that adds vitality to its long finish.” (James Suckling 2025) • Very limited quantities

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

One of the most consistent estates in the Crozes appellation for over thirty years, where vines and apricots are cultivated with equal passion. Julien and David have joined their father Laurent. They cultivate 50 hectares of vineyards, mostly situated on the rounded pebbles of the Plaine des Châssis, as well as a few granite-rich areas in the northern part of the appellation and a small portion in Saint-Joseph. Clos-des-Grives, produced from nine hectares of lovingly tended vines, has consistently excelled over time in both red and white wines.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

A charming man, Laurent Combier has succeeded in bringing out the greatness of the fine terroirs of Crozes-Hermitage, on the clay-limestone plateau with rounded pebbles of Pont-d’Isère. Vintage after vintage, he has relentlessly refined his wines in terms of finesse and definition, to the point where they can stand proudly alongside wines from far more prestigious terroirs. His Clos des Grives ranks among the most seductive and complex Syrahs of the Rhône. Its aging potential is remarkable in great vintages. Laurent now works alongside his sons Julien and David.
