"Tradition has its merits with this vintage, full of red berries and pepper!"

"The 2023 Gigondas Tradition is cut from the same cloth, though perhaps a bit more full-bodied and richer than the Ventabren cuvée. Aromas of ripe red and black fruits, peppery garrigue, spices, and licorice define the bouquet. The wine is medium-bodied, concentrated, and full on the palate. You can’t go wrong with either of these 2023s from Moulin de la Gardette.” (Jeb Dunnuck 2024)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Among Gigondas’s “must-haves,” Moulin de la Gardette and its ten hectares are a charming estate, meticulously managed by Jean-Baptiste Meunier. Nestled between the Saint-Jean terroirs and the Gardette hillside, the old Grenache vines capture the finesse of the calcareous marl. No flashiness in the cellar; the estate’s master craftsman exercises perfect control over the oak. For several vintages now, the estate’s wines have displayed remarkable natural elegance, with a silky texture and well-integrated tannins.

About the wine:

Fresh rosemary and pine needles lend the wine a herbaceous and resinous note. The palate is full-bodied, featuring juicy red fruits—strawberries and raspberries—along with a lovely, lively acidity and freshness. All in all, this is a precise, nuanced, fresh, and vibrant Gigondas, well-balanced and authentic.
