“The 2018 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes is composed of 80% Grenache, with the remaining 20% divided equally between Mourvèdre and Syrah. Two-thirds of the harvest was left whole-cluster, and the wine was aged in previously used barrels for 10 months, then in large oak casks. It is a top-tier wine, with flamboyant aromas of herbal tea and red raspberries. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, it has a silky texture and a long, vibrant finish that ends with a wave of supple tannins.” (Wine Advocate 2020) The quintessential Mediterranean wine!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated (2020 Guide) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)
About the estate:
Michel Tardieu and Dominique Laurent founded this prestigious winery in the early 1990s, establishing themselves as one of the top micro-negociants in the Rhône Valley. Today, Bastien and Michel Tardieu travel throughout the vineyards to source the finest grapes, typically from very old vines, often located in the historic heart of each appellation. A real transformation has taken place in recent vintages: large-capacity barrels, whole-cluster vinification for certain cuvées, and above all, more measured aging have raised the already excellent standard to a whole new level. A sure bet in the region.

Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2019 guide) 17/20
About the wine:
Juicy and with a good attack on the palate, even though the nose suggests extreme maturity. It has body, fine tannins, and real aging potential. Layers of complexity, including some welcome salty notes. And the oak isn't too overpowering.
