Château de la Selve

In 2002, Benoît Chazallon, a recent graduate of the Beaune School of Viticulture, took over the family vineyard and began restructuring it, driven by “a daily commitment to crafting lively wines of great finesse and freshness, a pure expression of our terroirs.” A true gem, the natural environment of the site reveals great potential for wine production, with sunshine, cool nights, wild landscapes, limestone soils, garrigue, humus, truffles.... To allow the terroir to express itself, it goes without saying for Benoit Chazallon that the life in the soil must be preserved, which is why he has been cultivating the vineyards using organic and biodynamic methods since 2002. This dedication paid off, as he was named “Discovery of the Year” in 2012 at the Trophées du Vin, organized by the Revue des Vins de France, which annually honors professionals in the wine industry.

Château de la Selve cultivates 38 hectares of vineyards within the Coteaux de l'Ardèche IGP, producing five different grape varieties: for reds, Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon; for whites, Viognier. The focus is primarily on balance and soil health to allow the concept of terroir to shine through, and a controlled yield range of 25 to 45 hectoliters per hectare enables greater concentration in the wines.
