"A must-have from Y. Cuilleron"
"A serious, well-made, structured red Saint-Joseph. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, redcurrant, crushed stone, and pepper. It is medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. A bright core of crisp black cherries and a concentrated finish of excellent length. Enjoy now or hold. (James Suckling 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Yves Cuilleron is the largest wine producer in the entire northern Rhône region, with 65 hectares currently under cultivation and around twenty different wines, mainly from Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, and Côte Rôtie. Only the Crozes wines are made from purchased grapes. Indigenous yeasts and aging in wood (9 months for whites, 18 months for reds) define a style that is certainly woody, but where each terroir ultimately expresses itself. Starting with the 2015 vintage, each appellation offers a cuvée with a lieu-dit name. One of the leading addresses in the Rhône Valley.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the estate:
A benchmark in the northern valley, particularly for its Condrieu wines. Based in Chavanay, Yves Cuilleron took over the estate in 1987, which was founded in 1920 by his paternal grandfather and then managed by his uncle Antoine. He has gradually expanded the estate (now covering 70 hectares), planted with high-density vines and managed in a very sustainable manner on the right bank of the Rhône (Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray, and Cornas) and, since 2012, on the left bank (Crozes-Hermitage).

Wine rated (2025 guide) 91/100
Rated estate (2024 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
In 1987, Yves Cuilleron took over the family estate founded by his grandfather in 1920. Dynamic and enterprising, Yves has continued to develop the estate, which now covers 90 hectares in the main appellations of the northern Rhône Valley, complemented by a wine trading business. The style of the wines has been refined in recent years and the terroirs are increasingly being showcased thanks to a very interesting range of single vineyard wines. This is a trusted estate.

Bright purple fruit, candied violets, sandalwood, and bouquet garni notes emerge from Cuilleron's Saint Joseph Les Serines 2022, a medium-bodied and beautifully balanced Saint Joseph with juicy acidity, fine tannins, and a lovely finish.
