Domaine Gauby - Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2008
Rating: RVF 17.5/20
Regardless of the vintage, the Vieilles Vignes always expresses itself with elegance, featuring exceptionally refined tannins and incredible aromatic persistence. Its 24 months of aging in new barrels mean it always needs a little time to reach its full potential, but this also makes it a truly great wine for aging!

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About the estate:
Since his beginnings in the mid-1980s, Gérard Gauby has been an inspiring, demanding, and passionate winemaker. His vines are cultivated with love and respect for the plants and the ecosystem. He has revealed to the world the complexity and potential of the Calce terroir with its limestone and ferruginous schist soils. The winemaker has also successfully evolved his style towards less mature, purer and more airy wines. Accompanied by his son, he continues this quest, with his vintages gaining in expression and deliciousness. The whites are very straightforward, with superb longevity and controlled aging. The reds are pure and deep. The 2021 vintage is reaching new heights in both colors.

A complex, full-bodied wine that should definitely be decanted or opened at least 24 hours before drinking to fully appreciate its richness

A beautifully aged wine that develops unusual aromas (toasty tannins, notes of the forest floor, etc.) for this region, where wines are typically characterized by a certain heaviness. A bottle that can still be cellared for a few more years and will delight you on special occasions.
