The 2011 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Muntada offers deep and complex notes of wild herbs, blackcurrant, tar, licorice, sage, and leather on the nose. There is no embellishment here, and what you get is the pure essence of Roussillon. Aged for 30 months in a combination of large and small barrels, it is full-bodied and rich, still very concentrated and taut, with a firm structure. About the domain :
Since his beginnings in the mid-1980s, Gérard Gauby has been an inspiring, demanding and passionate winemaker. His vines are cultivated with love and respect for plants and the ecosystem. He has revealed to the world the complexity and potential of Calce's ferruginous limestone and schist terroir. The winemaker has also succeeded in evolving his style towards less elevated, purer and more airy wines. Accompanied by his son, he continues this quest, with his cuvées gaining in expression and deliciousness. The whites are straightforward, with superb longevity and controlled ageing. The reds are pure and deep. The 2021s are top-of-the-range in both colors.
