"The 2011 Calcinaires red wine deserves a little aeration but is a perfect introduction to the Gauby style: fresh, smooth, full-bodied, and supple, it is immediately mouthwatering and highly digestible." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2013 - RVF). Definitely a must-try!

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About the estate:

Since his beginnings in the mid-1980s, Gérard Gauby has been an inspiring, demanding, and passionate winemaker. His vines are cultivated with love and respect for the plants and the ecosystem. He has revealed to the world the complexity and potential of the Calce terroir with its limestone and ferruginous schist soils. The winemaker has also successfully evolved his style towards less mature, purer and more airy wines. Accompanied by his son, he continues this quest, with his vintages gaining in expression and deliciousness. The whites are very straightforward, with superb longevity and controlled aging. The reds are pure and deep. The 2021 vintage is reaching new heights in both colors.

Opened a bottle with friends but it was a big disappointment. The wine stings the tongue like a sparkling wine. Undrinkable... What a shame. I don't dare open the other two bottles I have. I doubt this stinging problem will improve.

What a disappointment for me, a huge fan of Gauby! The wine was almost undrinkable, fragrant on the nose but with a strange impression confirmed on the palate, quickly developing a taste that was half spicy, half fizzy. Being naturally optimistic, I opened a second bottle, but it was the same. It just goes to show that even great winemakers can have their weaknesses, especially when, like Mr. Gauby, they are committed to producing the most natural product possible.

It's good, but there are better wines for this price in the region. The same goes for its red wine.

Interesting aromas, but unfortunately stings under the tongue like a poor quality Beaujolais Nouveau. Undrinkable... unfortunately. P.S. Aged for a year in an air-conditioned cellar!!! Fortunately, 1 jour1vin refunded my purchase!
