Domaine Gauby - La Roque 2010
18,5/20
RVF
Rating: RVF 18.5/20
"The Grenache grapes of La Roque 2010 will reveal their exceptional potential with aeration or aging, as will the Coume Gineste, which is tighter and more vigorous, intensely marked by its terroir (schist). " (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France - RVF). A very nice Côtes du Roussillon, very fine, with an extremely silky texture. Definitely worth discovering!

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2013 guide) 18,5/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About wine:
The Grenache wines of La Roque 2010 will reveal their exceptional potential with aeration or aging, as will the Coume Gineste, which is tighter and more vigorous, intensely marked by its terroir (schist).
About the estate:
Since his beginnings in the mid-1980s, Gérard Gauby has been an inspiring, demanding, and passionate winemaker. His vines are cultivated with love and respect for the plants and the ecosystem. He has revealed to the world the complexity and potential of the Calce terroir with its limestone and ferruginous schist soils. The winemaker has also successfully evolved his style towards less mature, purer and more airy wines. Accompanied by his son, he continues this quest, with his vintages gaining in expression and deliciousness. The whites are very straightforward, with superb longevity and controlled aging. The reds are pure and deep. The 2021 vintage is reaching new heights in both colors.

The gassy sensation on the tongue is very unusual (although indicated on the back label). Considering the price, I was frankly not impressed. I find this wine very overrated given the professional reviews.
