"Always a good entry point into the estate's range of wines, the 2012 Vieilles Vignes has a semi-opaque ruby/purple color that leads to an elegant, fragrant nose offering classic notes of black cherry and raspberry, resinous grass, new leather, and violet aromas. Medium-bodied, juicy, and lively, with firm acidity and tannins, it lacks a little depth compared to the 2011, but it has beautiful fruit, with a well-balanced palate ending with solid length. It should benefit from a year or two in the cellar and drink well through 2022. (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Wine rated (2015 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About wine:

The 2012 reds are phenomenal: Vieilles Vignes red expresses itself with floral finesse, a truly sparkling and fresh juice with an admirably delicate texture.

About the estate:

Since his beginnings in the mid-1980s, Gérard Gauby has been an inspiring, demanding, and passionate winemaker. His vines are cultivated with love and respect for the plants and the ecosystem. He has revealed to the world the complexity and potential of the Calce terroir with its limestone and ferruginous schist soils. The winemaker has also successfully evolved his style towards less mature, purer and more airy wines. Accompanied by his son, he continues this quest, with his vintages gaining in expression and deliciousness. The whites are very straightforward, with superb longevity and controlled aging. The reds are pure and deep. The 2021 vintage is reaching new heights in both colors.

A deep wine with aromas of garrigue and spices. Beautiful fruit too, with a hint of acidity on the finish.
