A broken promise. It’s difficult to craft a fresh, light wine from the beautiful but late-ripening Mourvèdre grape. The color lives up to its name, but the wine sorely lacks definition and clarity. With low alcohol content, the wine seems to lack maturity; there is little to no fruit, and the nose is very subtle. The palate lacks depth and complexity. Admittedly, this is a wine made with short maceration intended to quench thirst, but in this case, it’s far too short and soulless. It’s truly a shame because there’s a clear vision here, but it hasn’t been fully realized.
