Domaine Grier - Grenache Carignan 2015
3*Étoile
Hachette
“This rosé, made from Grenache (70%) and Carignan, made a strong impression. With an appealing color featuring gray-pink hues, it reveals a complex, elegant, and powerful nose of pear, mirabelle plum, apple, and peach... This complexity is extended by a palate full of confidence and balance: plenty of volume, a soft and tender texture, and remarkable freshness reminiscent of the high-altitude terroirs that gave birth to this wine with its strong personality. It was voted a favorite.” (Le Guide Hachette des Rosés 2016-2017)

About the wine:
This rosé, made from Grenache (70%) and Carignan, made a strong impression. With an attractive gray-pink hue, it reveals a complex, elegant, and powerful nose of pear, mirabelle plum, apple, and peach... This complexity is extended by a palate full of confidence and balance: plenty of body, soft and tender flesh, and remarkable freshness reminiscent of the high-altitude terroirs that gave birth to this wine with its strong personality. It was unanimously voted the favorite.
About the estate:
The Grier family, owners of a South African vineyard renowned for its sparkling wines, established this 25-hectare estate in a single block in the Fenouillèdes region in 2006. They entrusted its management to Raphël Graugnard, who brings his extensive experience to crafting wines that embody the successful union of the Old and New Worlds.

A wine with southern character, yet balanced by a lovely freshness—a great rosé for an aperitif, but also perfect for a delicious meal featuring southern flavors. I love it.

A decent wine that emphasizes finesse—almost too much for my taste. 2 stars for value.

A questionable quality-to-price ratio, just like the GH's Favorite 3-star" Favorite . No complex nose! Not much body—just a simple rosé at a reasonable price. Did I open a bad bottle?
