Bettane & Desseauve

“Easy-drinking and lively, this is a full-bodied white with good structure and a crisp, lively finish.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines 2015). An elegant wine with delicate floral notes on the nose, an intense, dense, and savory palate with good length, and a saline minerality that carries it through. A real success!

Wine rated (2015 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Light and lively, this is a full-bodied white wine with good structure and a crisp finish.

About the estate:

The Magnins are among the iconic figures of the Savoyard wine region. These two dedicated winemakers, who have been certified organic since 2012, decided to reduce the estate’s size to three hectares starting with the 2018 harvest. While the selection is small, both the white and red wines are absolutely stunning.

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This artisanal estate has played a pivotal role in the contemporary history of the Savoyard vineyards. Although the area under cultivation has decreased, meticulous work—both in the vineyard and in the cellar—enables Louis Magnin to achieve the highest levels of expression in both reds and whites. A perfectionist, he demonstrates, across his various vintages, a consistency that few producers in this region can match. Less opulent than in the past, the whites emphasize mineral intensity. Among the Mondeuses—flamboyant yet meant for aging—we continue to prefer (often, though not this year!) the cuvées aged in tanks over those aged in barrels.
