Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
André and Daniel Genoux revived the family estate in 2001. They purchased and completely renovated the magnificent 12th-century fortress that serves as their wine cellar. Wishing to reserve the Domaine Genoux brand for mass-market distribution, they focused on Château de Mérande: 12 hectares between Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte and Apremont (most of which are in Arbin), producing well-balanced and meticulously crafted wines, primarily made from Mondeuse grapes. In 2008, under the leadership of Yann Pernuit (a partner at the estate for 10 years), the vineyard was converted to biodynamic farming, and the wines have made significant strides, gaining in precision and depth. Intense and full-bodied, the Mondeuses are wines to be cellared.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100 (2022 vintage)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Committed to low yields and hand-harvesting, brothers André and Daniel Genoux took over the Château de Mérande estate in 2001. Dedicated to biodynamic viticulture, this estate—located in the Arbin appellation—offers a wide range of wines sourced from the surrounding hillside and glacial moraine soils. Mondeuse dominates production, covering two-thirds of the vineyard’s area. Winemaking now relies on native yeasts and is sulfur-free, often using whole clusters. The Latitude N45, La Noire, Le Comte Rouge, and La Belle Romaine cuvées brilliantly illustrate the current revival of the Savoyard vineyards and the immense potential of its iconic red grape variety.
