"A well-balanced, juicy and lively Chardonnay. On the nose, it shows apples, spiced pears and a hint of baking spice. Medium-bodied with lively acidity. Silky texture with delicious fruit in the center and well-driven development with structure. Tasty, long finish." (James Suckling 2025).

Bettane & Desseauve
4-star rated estates (top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaegue lead this estate to the pinnacle of Cahors, thanks to demanding viticulture and precise vinification. The 27 hectares (including 25 hectares of reds) are divided into three blocks on two of the appellation's best soil types, notably the famous third terrace. One is clay-limestone, producing wines of great finesse. The other is a soil of pebbles mixed with reddish sand, ideal for more powerful wines.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
For over fifteen years, the Verhaeghe brothers, Pascal in winemaking and Jean-Marc in the vineyard, and now Pascal's son Jules, have been making Le Cèdre the benchmark of the appellation. It has to be said that they benefit from an exceptional terroir: on the one hand, a cone of particularly stony limestone scree in constant movement, the famous "tran", which produces fine, elegant wines; on the other, a soil of pebbles on ferruginous sands, conferring greater power on the wines. Produced from selected, ideally ripe harvests, the cuvées, always highly colored, achieve a rare level of quality and consistency thanks to their refined tannins and velvety texture. Extra-Libre cuvées feature the entire range of sulfur-free wines.

About the wine:
A nice way to get around the fact that Cahors can only be a red wine, this Vin de France Chardonnay from the Cahors region is creamy and ripe. Tropical fruit and balanced acidity give a rich wine that will be ready from 2025.
