“Le Croizillon kicks off the red wine tasting with its floral and lively Malbec.” (Le Guide RVF 2024). In a blind tasting, it’s impossible to tell that this Malbec is a Cahors. And yet! Finally, a superb Cahors that’s fruit-forward, light, and easy to drink. The selection of terroirs here highlights the potential of this new-generation Cahors cuvée.

About the wine:
Le Croizillon kicks off the red wine tasting with its floral and lively Malbec.
About the estate:
The appellation has seen a new generation of winemakers, passionate about the Malbec grape, take the region by storm. Without turning their backs on the great Cahors wines of yesteryear—which age with unflinching character—Cahors’ new winemakers craft the grapes to bring out an intensely floral character. Germain Croisille, who has transformed the estate founded by his parents, has mastered the technique to the point of producing wines of rare subtlety, while remaining true to the traditional style of Malbec from the Causse. Subtle extraction and deep ripeness characterize wines that are ready to drink now yet capable of aging.

Review by Mr. PHILIPPE S. Published on May 1, 2025
The wine was slightly fizzy when opened, and decanting it—followed by a few vigorous swishes—unfortunately did not improve the situation. I didn’t detect any red fruit on the nose; it smelled more like a stable. On the palate, it was just okay. So, I was disappointed with the only bottle I bought. Back to Combel la Serre
