Lagrézette Castle
The history of Château Lagrézette, classified as a historic monument since 1982, dates back to the 12th century. This 90-hectare estate has become a symbol of Cahors wines thanks to the investments made by Alain-Dominique Perrin, a businessman and art lover, since the 1980s. He replanted the Château Lagrézette vineyard with Malbec (previously planted with hybrid vines), the region's flagship grape variety, in order to restore the château's wines to their former glory. The prestigious Dame Honneur cuvée is a tribute to Marguerite de Massaut, the first female owner of Château Lagrézette in the 16th century, when Cahors wine was served at all the royal tables.

The Château Lagrézette vineyard is made up of three distinct terroirs. The Terrasses du Lot are planted with 85% Malbec, 13% Merlot, and 2% Tannat on clay-limestone soil. Planted exclusively with Malbec, the property has 20 hectares of clay-loam gravel terroir. North of Cahors, the Rocamadour terroir offers clay-limestone soil with a mix of white and red grape varieties.
