The nose is highly complex, blending fruit, minerality, and hints of mint and truffle; on the palate, it reveals a dense texture, plenty of minerality, and silky tannins that linger into a fresh finish. Full of character and energy. A top-tier wine.

About the estate:

Alain-Dominique Perrin has worked tirelessly to make the magnificent Lagrézette estate one of the leading lights of Cahors’ renaissance. The progress made since the cellar’s renovation is evident: the wines have gained in elegance, and the fruit is better highlighted by the aging process. We particularly appreciate the Château and Clos-Marguerite vintages, which are remarkable this year.

About the wine:

Often ranked at the top of the Guide, this cuvée reaffirms its character and qualities in the 2018 vintage. The aromatic profile is built on a foundation of dark fruits, dominated by blackberry and notes of kirsch. The oak expresses itself through roasted mocha notes, as well as hints of mint and licorice. Full-bodied, the palate is already velvety, with a certain smoothness on the finish.

About the estate:

A flagship estate in the Cadurcian wine region, acquired in 1985 by businessman Alain-Dominique Perrin. It is renowned for the distinctive architecture of its 16th-century manor house, with its pepperpot towers, sloping roofs, and dovecote; for its wine-growing heritage (82 hectares), cultivated since the 16th century; and, above all, for its ambitious wines, which are regularly featured in these pages.

About the wine:

Grown in the vineyards on the third terrace above the Lot River, this wine is dense and firmly structured, with powerful black fruit notes. It is ripe, aged in oak, and has a velvety texture. The wine will be ready to drink starting in 2025.
