Wine rated (2021 guide) 96/100

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

A magnificent, pure, fruity nose with truffle notes; well-structured on the palate, with tight, elegant tannins, good length, and intense freshness. It has it all. Superb!

About the estate:

Alain-Dominique Perrin has worked tirelessly to make the magnificent Lagrézette estate one of the leading lights of Cahors’ renaissance. The progress made since the cellar’s renovation is evident: the wines have gained in elegance, and the fruit is better highlighted by the aging process. We particularly appreciate the Château and Clos-Marguerite vintages, which are remarkable this year.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2022) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

Blackcurrant and toasted notes... A lovely aromatic profile. Full-bodied with well-integrated tannins... That’s all it takes to decide to enjoy this Cahors right now.

About the estate:

A flagship estate in the Cadurcian wine region, acquired in 1985 by businessman Alain-Dominique Perrin. It is renowned for the distinctive architecture of its 16th-century manor house, with its pepperpot towers, sloping roofs, and dovecote; for its wine-growing heritage (82 hectares), cultivated since the 16th century; and, above all, for its ambitious wines, which are regularly featured in these pages.

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)

About the wine:

This is the estate’s wine, made from grapes grown in the vineyards surrounding the 15th-century château, near the Lot River. Dark fruit notes dominate, and the tannins are very pronounced. It is a dark-colored, full-bodied, and concentrated wine. The wine needs time to age; it will be ready to drink starting in 2024.

Rated: Recommended

About the wine:

Although the oak (obvious) and the fruit are angular and rigid, this wine is still very young and will settle in the coming years. The fruit—a blend of purple, red, and blue—is very pure, beautifully shaped by acidity and long, refined tannins. Beneath the more pronounced oak spices lies a hint of grape spice. Cumin and the bark of old trees drenched by rain, along with a slight hint of camphor. Menthol-like freshness. Great length, flavor, and restraint. One of the most elegant vintages of this wine I have ever tasted. Bravo!
