“Simply a great white wine (The RVF Guide 2025)”
“ “It reminds me of Graves—the combination of oak, malolactic fermentation, and citrus. Full-bodied but not heavy, oaky but not chaotic. Complex and succulent, with a long, lingering fruit finish. A real find! It’s certainly a bit of a mystery in terms of appellation and grape variety.” (Jancis Robinson 2024)

Wine rated (2023 guide) 92+/100 (Outstanding wine)
About the wine:
The 2019 Montus Blanc Sec reveals a complex and fresh bouquet with aromas of lemon oil, mirabelle plum, mandarin, spring flowers, and crushed stone. Medium-bodied to full-bodied with a delicate and taut mid-palate, it is flawless and layered, concluding with an elegant, penetrating phenolic finish. This wine is perfectly suited for fine dining, but it will benefit from three to five years of aging before revealing its full potential.

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
A pure Petit Courbu, the 2019 Pacherenc offers a subtle, velvety, full-bodied, and long-finishing profile; quite simply, a great white wine, imbued with classic elegance, a successful exploration of the distinction and aging potential of a rare grape variety.
About the estate:
Alain Brumont has forged his own distinctive style, sending wines from Madiran across the globe under the Château Montus label, which he acquired in 1980. Often bucking conventional wisdom, Brumont’s vintages reflect his great freedom in interpreting terroirs with yellow and red clay subsoils, which vary in composition from 20% to 40%. Tannat is featured in the château’s three cuvées—Prestige, XL, Montus, and La Tyre—and undoubtedly delivers the most spectacular profile of this challenging Pyrenean grape.

The generous 2019 Blanc Sec unfolds with aromas of honeysuckle, ripe pear, lemon zest, and white peach. Chamomile and cedar add further nuances. Concentrated and well-balanced by bright acidity, the medium-bodied 2019 delights the palate with intense flavors and lively energy. An elegant finish rounds it all out.
