“The excellence of the old vines at the Alheit estate: described as magnificent, captivating, harmonious, and sophisticated...”
“This wonderfully fresh, creamy, and textured white wine offers aromas and flavors of sliced pears, mango pits, pomelo peel, shellfish, and honey. It is medium-bodied, with lively acidity and a briny freshness. The finish is long, savory, and precise. Made from old vines on Skurfberg (Mount Citrusdal). Drink now or cellar.” (James Suckling 2025)

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2026 guide) 96/100 (Extraordinary wine)
About the wine:
Alheit Vineyards’ Citrusdal Mountain Huilkrans 2024 is made from bush-trained vines around 50 years old, planted in red sandy soil overlying red clay at an elevation of approximately 450 meters. This low-yield terroir naturally imparts intensity and tension to the wine. The wine may exhibit pronounced acidity, which gives it a distinctly different mineral and aromatic profile, leaning toward notes of orange blossom, lemon blossom, and ethereal floral notes rather than pronounced fruity aromas, evoking the exotic scents of a Moroccan garden such as the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech. Dry and linear on the palate, it offers a fresh and finely chiseled finish, where liveliness and precision take precedence over richness. 2026–2038

About the wine:
The Huilkrans 2024 is a pure Chenin made from bush-trained vines planted between 1974 and 1989 at an altitude of 450 meters. It is quite subtle on the nose, with very appealing aromas of yellow plum, brioche, mandarin, and a hint of wax. The palate is well-balanced, with lovely tension and elegance, and the minerality comes through nicely on the finish. Very harmonious, this wine is perhaps one of Chris Alheit’s most elegant vintages this year. Sophisticated. 2026–2039
