"This Alheit cuvée offers a surprising and fantastic tasting experience: this chenin won't leave your thoughts!"
"I love the concise, intriguing, earthy and spicy character of this medium to full-bodied white wine. Aromas of lemon peel, grapefruit, minced fennel and hints of smoky tea and lemongrass follow through to a textured, concise palate. Fantastic concentration. This wine should evolve well. Made from ungrafted Chenin Blanc vines planted on red sandy soil at 520 meters altitude. Drink or cellar. (James Suckling 2025)

About the wine:
Magnetic North 2024 comes from a massal selection of 2.8 hectares of Chenin Blanc planted on their own roots in 1981 and 1984 in Skurfburg, which, according to Alheit, have not been infected by curled foliage. It has a slightly yeasty bouquet, with aromas of melted wax and a touch of toasted hazelnut. The palate is slightly lively on the attack, with notes of grapefruit and tart lemon, nervous and concentrated, with a touch of rooibos on the lingering finish. It may not appeal to everyone like Nautical Dawn, but it's a fascinating, captivating wine. 2026-2042
