“Experience all the expertise of the sublime Alheit estate in this approachable wine, perfect for immediate enjoyment!”

“The 2024 Hereafter Here comes from young vineyards and spends 12 months on the lees. Alheit uses it as a potential plot for Cartology. This pure Chenin Blanc offers a lively bouquet with notes of lemon thyme and light citrus. The palate is well-balanced with a citrusy attack, hints of tart lemon, and orange peel on the finish. Perhaps a bit abrupt, but excellent to drink young. 2025–2030” (Vinous 2025)

Rated wine (2026 guide) 93/100 (Outstanding wine)

About the wine:

Alheit Vineyards’ 2024 “Hereafter Here” is made from young vineyards, including recently planted plots on the estate and grapes from trusted growers, allowing Chris Alheit to explore the terroir before the vines reach maturity. Fermented and aged in a mix of diamond-shaped concrete tanks and, primarily, used 300- or 500-liter barrels, this wine serves as a sort of testing ground for future additions to the Cartology lineup. The 2024 vintage was a low-yielding one, giving it heightened concentration and subtle complexity. Salty and fresh, it offers a generous palate, balanced by notes of orchard fruit and candied lemon. The diversity of the Western Cape’s soils and the maritime influence lend even the young vines a mineral tension that anchors the wine’s liveliness. 2026–2034

About the wine:

This very fresh, mineral-driven white wine offers aromas of raw salted almonds, chamomile, sliced apples, and lemon tea. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, mineral and salty, with lively acidity. Enjoy now or cellar.
