Western Cape

The Western Cape, or Cap-Occidental in French, is a vast wine-growing region in South Africa, renowned as the country’s leading wine-producing area.

The first grapevines were planted there in 1655 by settlers. French Huguenots, who arrived later, brought their expertise and contributed to the development of viticulture in the region.

The region is home to many famous wine regions such as Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek.

It has a maritime climate, with consistent warmth and plenty of sunshine.
