Western Cape

The Western Cape is a vast wine-growing region in South Africa, renowned as the country's main wine-producing area.

The first vines were planted here in 1655 by settlers. The French Huguenots, who arrived later, brought their knowledge and contributed to the development of viticulture in the region.

The region is home to many famous appellations, including Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek.

The climate is maritime, with constant warmth and plenty of sunshine.
