Domaine Dirler-Cadé - Gewurztraminer Kitterlé Grand Cru Élément Terre 2019
95/100
James Suckling
“A broad nose of spices and exotic fruits (lychee, but also papaya and mangosteen!). Very rich and succulent with an enveloping creaminess, yet only a hint of sweetness and almost no perceptible bitterness—this is a remarkable Gewürztraminer that is surprisingly easy to drink, thanks to its silky texture and the excellent balance of its very long finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now or cellar.” (James Suckling 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
An iconic estate in Bergholtz for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the partnership between Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. Within the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler, and especially Spiegel offer great aging potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to integrate fully.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2025 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine, sensitive and seasoned winemakers, expertly steer this estate founded in 1871, which has been passed down from father to son for five generations and has been cultivated biodynamically since 1998. Regardless of the grape variety, the precision of the wines, their density, and ripeness have never been more accomplished: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler, and Kitterlé grands crus, which are an absolute must-try and are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This estate offers a remarkable welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages. The exceptional quality of the entire range in recent vintages has earned it a third star this year.
