“'A more robust and full-bodied Spiegel, a fiery wine with such a long finish.' (RVF)”
"The 2023 Spiegel Grand Cru Gewürztraminer was made exclusively from non-botrytized grapes. A hint of navel orange peel is accompanied by a note of honeysuckle, yet the wine remains supple. On the palate, it evokes juicy, ripe mirabelle plums with a lovely hint of orange peel. It is a rich yet restrained Gewurztraminer, with plenty of liveliness and balance.” (Vinous 2025)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
An iconic estate in Bergholtz for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the partnership between Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. Within the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler, and especially Spiegel offer great aging potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to integrate fully.

Rated estate (2025 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the wine:
In Gewürztraminers, we find the precision of expression characteristic of grand cru wines, [...] Spiegel is more vigorous and full-bodied, a fiery wine with such a long finish.
About the estate:
Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine, sensitive and seasoned winemakers, expertly steer this estate founded in 1871, which has been passed down from father to son for five generations and has been cultivated biodynamically since 1998. Regardless of the grape variety, the precision of the wines, their density, and ripeness have never been more accomplished: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler, and Kitterlé grands crus, which are an absolute must-try and are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This estate offers a remarkable welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages. The exceptional quality of the entire range in recent vintages has earned it a third star this year.
