Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the domain :
An emblematic Bergholtz estate for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the union of Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. In the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler and especially Spiegel have great ageing potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to melt away.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 96/100
Domaine rated (guide 2025) 3*Stars (They represent the excellence of the French vineyard. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment)
About the wine:
An admirable trilogy of grand cru Rieslings in 2023, already perfectly expressive: [...] Spiegel, more vibrant and immediately racy
About the domain :
Sensitive and experienced winemakers, Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine are at the helm of this estate, founded in 1871, handed down from father to son for five generations, and biodynamic since 1998. Whatever the grape variety, the wines' precision, density and maturity have never been better: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler and Kitterlé grands crus, which are a must-discover and are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This house offers an outstanding welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages. The exceptional quality of the entire range in recent vintages has earned the house its third star this year.

About the wine:
The Riesling Spiegel Grand Cru 2023 was harvested from a parcel called Stein, on sandstone soil with marl and quartz pebbles. This vintage was made exclusively from 45-year-old vines grown on this plot. The fragrant nose presents aromas of crisp red apple and crushed citrus leaves. The palate is lively and very light. Less concentrated than usual, but imbued with immense charm and purity. The finish is dry and very precise (very dry).
