“The 2009 Saering Muscat d’Alsace delivers a zesty and invigorating aromatic explosion of mint, boxwood, and green tea, followed by a juicy surge of fresh apricot and mandarin mingled with black tea and roasted coffee, which lingers in an admirably long finish. This proves that in this vintage, a Muscat—even a full-bodied one—can retain its freshness while finishing truly dry. Not to be missed in its youth, but also let it age for 3 to 5 years.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
An iconic estate in Bergholtz for two generations now. The 18 hectares of biodynamic vineyards are the result of the partnership between Jean Dirler and Ludivine Cadé. Within the range, the fine terroirs of Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler, and especially Spiegel offer great aging potential, allowing the slight residual sugars to integrate fully.

Wine rated (2012 guide) 15/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
This Saering grand cru opens with delicate notes of orange blossom and pink grapefruit. On the palate, it’s as if you’re literally biting into fresh grapes, with a dry, briny Muscat that plays off the vintage’s power.

Wine rated (2012 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2025 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)
About the estate:
Jean Dirler and his wife Ludivine, sensitive and seasoned winemakers, expertly steer this estate founded in 1871, which has been passed down from father to son for five generations and has been cultivated biodynamically since 1998. Regardless of the grape variety, the precision of the wines, their density, and their maturity have never been more accomplished: an impressive range of great dry white wines culminates in the magnificent expressions of the Spiegel, Saering, Kessler, and Kitterlé grand crus, which are an absolute must-try and are now named after the four elements (fire, air, earth, water). This estate offers a remarkable welcome, and many wines are available in older vintages. The exceptional quality of the entire range in the latest vintages has earned it a third star this year.
RVF - Guide des Meilleurs Vins à moins de 20 euros € - Gerbelle & Maurange
Wine rated (2012 guide) 16/20 (Excellent)
About the wine:
This very dry, intense, and vibrant wine offers a mineral note that accentuates its firm structure on the palate. Let this bottle age, as it has real aging potential—like all the Grands Crus from this admirable family-run estate, which is definitely worth a visit for wine lovers.

The nose is very refined, with lovely aromas, but on the palate, where is the body? On the finish, there are plenty of aromas, but no body...
