"Elegant, flavorful, and stimulating" (Parker)

"The broad spectrum of citrus, crisp pear, and stone fruit aromas heralds a remarkable achievement for an entry-level wine. The racy, medium-bodied palate has excellent depth, with chalky minerality providing a wonderful contrast to the fresh fruit. The finish is long and crisp, with plenty of vitality. Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

The Ribeauvillé estate is slowly evolving to keep pace with the times. After shifting its focus to grand cru wines, Trimbach is now converting to organic farming (certification expected in 2023). The process will involve its grape and wine suppliers. Riesling reigns supreme here (55% of production). The terroirs are ideal: marl-limestone (Geisberg, Mandelberg, Clos-Saint-Hune au Rosacker) or granite (Schlossberg, Brand). The Frédéric-Émile cuvée blends the Osterberg and Geisberg grands crus. The 2017 and 2019 vintages will go down in history.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 91/100 (Outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

The 2022 Riesling comes from countless vineyards located between Scherwiller in the north and the Vallé Noble in the south, mainly on marl-limestone soils. The nose is clear, fresh, and intensely aromatic, with hints of muscat, herbs, and stone, making it more than just a Riesling. On the palate, it is a dry but round and textured Riesling, quite rich, intense, and powerful, but certainly elegant, flavorful, and stimulating, with grip, saltiness, and tension on the crisp finish. 12.8% alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the estate in April 2024.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Quite full-bodied, this simple Riesling is frank and lemony.

About the estate:

A must-visit estate that stands proudly in the beautiful city of musicians, Trimbach delights wine lovers with its legendary Frédéric-Émile and Clos Sainte-Hune vintages. Depending on the vintage, Pierre Trimbach vinifies Riesling in a vertical style, always dry. His brother Jean manages sales worldwide. They are now supported by the new generation, Anne and Frédérique (Pierre's daughters) and Pauline and Julien (Jean's children). The family vinifies nearly 60 hectares of their own vineyards and around 100 hectares of purchased grapes. Certain grands crus have been claimed since 2009 and are allocated directly in small quantities by Jean Trimbach to the world's finest restaurants. The house undeniably contributes to the promotion of Alsace wines with internationally renowned vintages, while producing entry-level wines of consistent quality. The range of Pinot Noirs still has room for improvement.

About wine:

A perfectly decent dry Riesling from Alsace. Fresh, racy, and young. It's not cheap, but the price is fair. Long finish with notes of elderflower. (JR)

Rated estate (2023 guide) Recommended

About wine:

The 2022 Riesling is a blend of fruit from the estate and fruit purchased throughout Alsace, with a significant proportion from Grand Cru vineyards, plus fruit from the estate's young vines and Grand Cru fruit that has been brought in, mainly from limestone soils, but with some sandstone and volcanic elements. A lovely crackle of flint mingles with a touch of chamomile and bright notes of dried lemon, resulting in an aromatic nose. The palate is juicy and full of energy, with a slight astringency of citrus peel and pith, which complements this exuberance. The 2022 has beautiful tension, lovely dryness, and lots of energy. (Dry to the bone)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About wine:

This wine is made from grapes grown on the estate and purchased from other vineyards. It includes grand cru wines and aims to showcase the overall quality of the grape variety. The bouquet confirms the criteria set by the Trimbach family! It reveals mineral nuances and citrus notes, complemented by hints of white peaches. Lively and salty on the attack, the wine is straightforward, expressive, and persistent. Its crispness, tension, and persistence are particularly remarkable. Excellent quality! Now until 2044 93/100
