“‘Elegant, flavorful, and stimulating’ (Parker)”

“The broad spectrum of citrus, crisp pear, and stone fruit aromas heralds a remarkable success for an entry-level wine. The racy, medium-bodied palate has excellent depth, with chalky minerality providing a wonderful contrast to the fruit’s freshness. The finish is long and crisp, with plenty of vitality. ” (James Suckling 2024) • Screw cap

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The Ribeauvillé winery is gradually evolving to keep pace with the times. After shifting its focus to grand cru wines, Trimbach is in the process of converting to organic farming (certification expected in 2023). This transition will require the involvement of its grape and wine suppliers. Here, Riesling reigns supreme (55% of production). The terroirs are well-suited: marl-limestone (Geisberg, Mandelberg, Clos-Saint-Hune in Rosacker) or granite (Schlossberg, Brand). The Frédéric-Émile cuvée blends the Osterberg and Geisberg grands crus. The 2017 and 2019 vintages will go down in history.

Rated wine (2025 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2022 Riesling comes from countless vineyards located between Scherwiller to the north and the Vallé Noble to the south, primarily on marl-limestone soils. The nose is crisp, fresh, and intensely aromatic, with hints of muscat, herbs, and stone, making it more than just a simple Riesling. On the palate, it is a dry yet round and textured Riesling, quite rich, intense, and powerful, yet certainly elegant, flavorful, and stimulating, with grip, minerality, and tension on the crisp finish. 12.8% alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the estate in April 2024.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

This straightforward Riesling is quite full-bodied, with a clean, lemony flavor.

About the estate:

A must-visit winery that stands proudly in the beautiful town of the minstrels, Trimbach delights wine lovers with its legendary Frédéric-Émile and Clos Sainte-Hune vintages. Depending on the vintage, Pierre Trimbach crafts Riesling with a vertical profile, always in a dry style. His brother Jean oversees global sales. They are now supported by the next generation: Anne and Frédérique (Pierre’s daughters) and Pauline and Julien (Jean’s children). The family produces wine from nearly 60 hectares of their own vineyards and about 100 hectares of purchased grapes. Certain Grand Crus have been designated since 2009 and are directly allocated in small quantities by Jean Trimbach to the world’s finest restaurants. The estate undeniably contributes to the promotion of Alsace wines with internationally renowned cuvées, while also producing entry-level wines of consistent quality. The range of Pinot Noirs still has room for improvement.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 16,5/20

About the wine:

A perfectly decent dry Riesling from Alsace. Fresh, elegant, and youthful. It’s not cheap, but the price is fair. Long-finishing, with notes of elderflower. (JR)

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

Rated winery (2023 guide) Recommended

About the wine:

The 2022 Riesling is a blend of grapes from the estate and grapes sourced throughout Alsace, including a significant proportion from Grand Cru vineyards, as well as grapes from the estate’s young vines and Grand Cru grapes, primarily grown on limestone soils, though with some sandstone and volcanic elements. A lovely crackle of flint mingles with a hint of chamomile and vibrant notes of dried lemon, creating an aromatic nose. The palate is juicy and full of energy, with a slight astringency of citrus peel and pith that complements this exuberance. The 2022 exhibits beautiful tension, a lovely dryness, and plenty of energy. (Bone dry)

About the wine:

This wine is made from grapes sourced from the estate and the merchant’s own holdings. It includes Grand Cru-level wines and aims to highlight the overall quality of the grape variety. The bouquet confirms the standards set by the Trimbach family! It reveals mineral nuances as well as citrus notes, complemented by hints of white peaches.
