This Riesling comes from vines grown on the upper slopes of the Schlossberg hill, which was the first terroir in Alsace to be classified as a Grand Cru. A subtle white wine with notes of white-fleshed fruits, where the granite character of the terroir expresses itself through a very delicate minerality. The palate is elegant, with a beautiful acidic structure, and a very pure finish that combines persistence and freshness.

5-Star Estate (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

Cathy Faller works with her family, including her sons Eddy and Théo. Their vast vineyard produces beautifully structured, fruit-forward wines of exceptional finesse. The flagship wines come from the surrounding slopes: the Grand Cru vineyards of Furstentum and Altenbourg, and the Schlossberg, brilliant in its crystalline interpretation of Riesling. The acquisition of Domaine Gérard Fuchs (in Sigolsheim) in 2019 allowed them to expand by six hectares, two of which are within the Grand Cru Furstentum. This is ideal for meeting the ever-increasing global demand. A true institution.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the estate:

Clos des Capucins is one of those magical, elusive, and timeless places. It's rare to find a location with so much energy and history, producing wines of such purity. Supported by her two sons, Eddy and Théo, Catherine Faller runs the estate, dedicating herself tirelessly to maintaining the highest quality wines and a warm welcome. Her son Théo pays close attention to the vines, which have been cultivated biodynamically across the entire estate since 2005, while Ghislain Berthiot, who has been with the estate for several years, is in charge of winemaking. Eddy assists his mother with the commercial side of the business. Here, one can taste one of the finest expressions of the Grand Cru Schlossberg, at various stages of ripeness. Its clarity and precision are astounding, often approaching perfection. The Gewurztraminer grapes find their ideal terroir in the surrounding area. The estate has just acquired 6 hectares of vines, including 1 hectare in grand cru Furstentum.
