"Grown on a sunny, slightly windy plot adjacent to the chapel, the 2013 Gewurztraminer Bollenberg La Chapelle presents a very clean, fresh, and fairly complex nose, blending subtle fruit aromas—such as pineapple and lemon—with spicy notes of white pepper. Full-bodied, intense, and well-structured, this completely dry Gewurztraminer—remarkably fresh and structured—exhibits the same purity and crispness as the other whites from this sublime estate. Still very young and with a salty finish, this Traminer balances the spicy character of the grape with its ripe fruit. Marie Zusslin particularly recommends it with Asian cuisine. Wine rated (2016 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

About the wine:

Aromas of flowers and exotic fruits; elegant; the palate is almost dry, which is a welcome trait for this grape variety and brings out its minerality; it has a fairly high alcohol content but is well-balanced with a peppery finish.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

The work of Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who carry on the family winemaking tradition dating back to 1691, has been exemplary for several years now. Based in Orschwihr, on a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate, charismatic duo dedicated to a job well done. And they’re taking on more and more projects: designing a new bottle, installing dozens of beehives and birdhouses across their vineyards...Each has their role: Marie handles marketing, while Jean-Paul works in the vineyards and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, meticulous winemaking, and precise aging summarize the work of this leading estate, where a plot-by-plot approach is omnipresent, even in the crémants. The excellence of the range suggests a rise in our rankings!
