"From a sunny, slightly windy plot adjacent to the chapel, the 2013 Gewurztraminer Bollenberg La Chapelle is very clean, fresh, and quite complex on the nose, blending subtle fruit aromas such as pineapple and lemon with spicy notes of white pepper. Full-bodied, intense and well-structured, this completely dry and remarkably fresh and structured Gewurztraminer has the same purity and crispness as the other whites from this sublime estate. Still very young and with a salty finish, this Traminer responds to the spicy character of the grape variety with its ripe fruit. Marie Zusslin particularly recommends it with Asian cuisine. Wine rated (2016 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

About wine:

Aromas of flowers and exotic fruits, elegant, almost dry on the palate, which is welcome for this grape variety and brings out its salinity. It is fairly high in alcohol but balanced with a peppery finish.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

The work of Jean-Paul and Marie Zusslin, who are continuing the family winemaking tradition that began in 1691, has been exemplary for several years now. Based in Orschwihr, on a beautiful vineyard, they form a passionate, charismatic duo who are committed to a job well done. And they have many projects in the pipeline: designing a new bottle, installing dozens of beehives and nesting boxes in the vineyards...Each has their role: Marie handles marketing, Jean-Paul works in the vineyards and the cellar. Biodynamic viticulture since 1997, careful vinification, and precise aging sum up the work of this benchmark estate, where the spirit of the vineyard is omnipresent, even in the crémants. The excellence of the range may well lead to a rise in our rankings!
