Domaine Les Capréoles - Beaujolais-Lantignié blanc Axiome 2025
92/100
James Suckling
"What a great confirmation!"
Since it was planted in 2017, this Chardonnay vineyard has been cultivated exclusively using biodynamic methods. It was harvested for the first time in 2019 to produce this Axiome cuvée, meaning “the obvious.” After a long, gentle pressing, the wine was fermented in barrels with native yeasts and aged on its lees for 8 months. This white Beaujolais Lantignié, made from 100% Chardonnay, combines concentration, roundness, and finesse. It reflects a great terroir in the making.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2024 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Cédric Lecareux and his wife Catherine founded the Capréoles estate in July 2014 with three hectares of adjacent vineyards, to which they added two more hectares two years later. From Beaujolais-Villages to Cru Régnié, everything is highly recommended, with, in our opinion, more refined aging profiles. A wonderful place to visit.

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Award-Winning Wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
Cédric Lecareux—who came from Languedoc-Roussillon, where he worked at the Gérard Bertrand Group’s estates—and his wife, a native of the Beaujolais region, purchased this 250-year-old estate in 2014. There, they cultivate 8 hectares of organically farmed vineyards laid out like a garden around the property, offering an exceptional view of the two church steeples in Régnié-Durette.

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the excellence of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Cédric Lecareux is one of those new-generation winemakers who are shaking up the Beaujolais region. After serving as technical director for a major Languedoc wine merchant for six harvests, he settled in Régnié with his wife Catherine—an agricultural engineer like himself—on a neglected estate. Upon their arrival in 2014, they began the process of obtaining organic certification, which was granted in 2017. Adhering to the maxim “The rule is that there are no rules,” they adapt their destemming and aging methods to each year’s conditions.
