Domaine Christophe Savoye - Cuvée Loïc 2018

Christophe Savoye is quick to praise the finesse of this cuvée, which generally reflects the terroir of Chiroubles well. The sunny 2018 vintage has worked its magic; and while this wine is appreciated for its harmony, it is also well-structured and expressive, with notes of red fruit and intense spices.

Sophie and Christophe Savoye, who have lived in Chiroubles since 1991, have carried on the family tradition spanning five generations. They cultivate 16 hectares spread across the Chiroubles, Morgon, and Régnié AOCs.

This substantial vintage (30,000 bottles) captivates the nose with its explosive bouquet of rose potpourri. Joyful and incredibly rich, it charms with its “great drinkability.”

In the heart of the village of Chiroubles, on the “green balcony” of the Beaujolais region, Christophe—a sixth-generation winemaker—cultivates 16.5 hectares, 14 of which are located within his own cru. Using the (traditional) semi-carbonic maceration method, he destems the grapes in plots where they are not yet ripe. He sells all his wine by the bottle at a fair price—the price at which Chiroubles should be sold. However, we are surprised by the differences in style across the range, noting inconsistencies in the most recent vintages.
