About the wine:
A Chiroubles aged for one year in oak barrels following a long fermentation. The aim was to produce a structured wine, resulting in lovely tannic density without sacrificing suppleness and balance. The overall effect is a wine with a long finish and lovely roundness, expressing notes of peony, plum, and cherry.
About the estate:
Sophie and Christophe Savoye, who have lived in Chiroubles since 1991, have taken over the family business after five generations. They cultivate 16 hectares spread across the Chiroubles, Morgon, and Régnié AOCs.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
In the heart of the village of Chiroubles, on the “green balcony” of the Beaujolais region, Christophe—a sixth-generation winemaker—cultivates 16.5 hectares, 14 of which are located within his own cru. Using the (traditional) semi-carbonic maceration method, he destems the grapes in plots where they are not yet fully ripe. He sells all his wine by the bottle at a fair price—the price at which Chiroubles should be sold. We are, however, surprised by the differences in style across the range, noting inconsistencies in the most recent vintages.
