The 2016 Moulin-à-Vent La Rochelle shows great promise. It is the most well-rounded and complex wine in the estate’s lineup—a full-bodied yet very refined wine with a long finish. Its nose, featuring fruit and creamy vanilla, evolves into notes of spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and deep, with pronounced tannins.Very promising!

Wine rated (2020 guide) 17/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The ambitious and comprehensive renovation of the vineyard and winery initiated by Jean-Jacques Parinet is now yielding the expected results. Progress has been remarkable, and the estate continues to lead the appellation. He is supported by a talented team, including Édouard Parinet, their cellar master Brice Lafon, and their communications manager Morgane Chambriard. A key player for the appellation and the region, he is a formidable ambassador who builds value and enhances the region’s image both in France and around the world.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Only 4,295 bottles were produced from the 4.21 hectares of the prestigious La Rochelle vineyard. A hint of noble bitterness supports a full-bodied finish. A memorable cuvée.

About the estate:

Since its acquisition by the Parinet family in 2009, this vast estate has invested significant resources in revitalizing the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, much like Château des Jacques did in its day. In a modern Gamay style, with long, carefully managed aging in oak, the numerous single-vineyard cuvées express the complexity and diversity of the soils. With the 2016 vintage, the estate’s first white wines (4.5 hectares) in the Mâcon and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations were released under the name Roc des Boutires.
