"A real treat!"
The highest point in the Saint-Amour appellation, the Côte de Besset rises to an altitude of 380 meters, lending the wine aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries. With a fruity, supple, and elegant palate, it pairs well with pork cheek stew in red wine or barbecued pork tenderloins.

About the estate:
Located on the border between Burgundy and Beaujolais, this château takes its name from Sieur Bonnet, a councilman of the city of Mâcon, who built a manor house there in 1630 where Lamartine later stayed. Acquired by the Perrachon family in 1973, the estate comprises 22 hectares of vineyards. Pierre-Yves Perrachon, who has led the estate since 1988, was joined in 2013 by his daughter Charlotte, an enologist. He has also partnered with a winemaker from the Mâconnais region to expand his operations through a wine merchant firm, Bourgogne Sélect.

Fresh and crisp, this Saint-Amour makes an immediate impression with the striking frankness of its aromas and its sparkling, fresh fruit. Richness and generosity are evident in a clear, silky texture paired with fine, supple tannins, enlivened by a touch of liveliness, which glide smoothly into a light finish of medium length. Very easy to drink and ready to enjoy now, this youthful Gamay will pair beautifully, after decanting, with Lyon-style andouillette sausages and steamed potatoes, or with a salted pork dish served with Puy lentils. Rating = 3.8.
