Barsac
The Barsac appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is located 40 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, at the mouth of the Ciron, a small river that joins the Garonne on its left bank.

The cold waters of the Ciron create a unique microclimate that promotes the formation of nighttime fog in the fall. During the day, this fog gives way to sunshine. This alternation is conducive to the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which attacks the skin of the grapes, promoting their dehydration. Their pulp then transforms into a kind of golden jam, concentrating sugars, juice, and aromas.

Barsac wines are characterized by an intense and deep nose, with a warm and elegant bouquet. They are powerful and lively on the palate, full-bodied and elegant, with richness, freshness, and a rare aromatic richness. This harmoniously blends notes of honey, white peach, almond, oriental spices, mango, pineapple, dried apricot, toast, and vanilla toast. Barsac wines are exceptionally persistent and finish with long, very fragrant finishes, with pleasant menthol notes.

AOC Barsac wines are made from the Sémillon grape variety, which dominates the blend, and the Sauvignon grape variety, with Muscadelle sometimes added. The production of Barsac wines is perfectly mastered at renowned estates such as Château Climens and Château Coutet.
