Barsac
The Barsac AOC is located 40 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, at the mouth of the Ciron, a small river that flows into the Garonne on its left bank.

The cold waters of the Ciron create a unique microclimate that encourages the formation of nighttime fog in the fall. During the day, this fog gives way to sunshine. This alternation is conducive to the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), which, by attacking the grape skins, promotes their dehydration. Their pulp then transforms into a sort of golden jam, concentrating sugars, juices, and aromas.

Barsac wines are characterized by an intense and deep nose, with a warm and elegant bouquet. They are powerful and lively on the palate, full-bodied and elegant, with richness, freshness, and an aromatic palette of rare complexity. This harmoniously blends notes of honey, white peach, almond, oriental spices, mango, pineapple, dried apricot, toasted bread, and vanilla-toast. Barsac wines are exceptionally persistent and finish with long, highly fragrant aftertastes, featuring pleasant minty notes.

Wines from the Barsac AOC are made from the Sémillon grape, which dominates the blend, and the Sauvignon grape, with Muscadelle sometimes added. The winemaking process for Barsac wines is perfectly mastered at renowned estates such as Château Climens and Château Coutet.
